Creating a Social Media Post #

To create a new social media post image:

  • Select a Recipe: In the Social Media Posts editor, find the Recipe dropdown list and choose one of your existing WP Delicious recipes. Only recipes created with WP Delicious will appear here. (If the dropdown is empty, make sure you have published at least one recipe using WP Delicious.)
  • Title: The main heading that will appear on the image. By default it may be filled with your recipe’s title. You can edit this to something catchy.
  • Subtitle: A secondary line or tagline (optional) to complement the title.
  • Description: A short description or snippet about the recipe. This can appear below the title or elsewhere in the image layout. It has a character limit of 150.
  • Display Credits: Enable or disable a credit line (such as “Recipe by [Your Name]” or your site name). This usually appears in small text (e.g. footer) on the image.

Make sure the text fits the context. For example, you might shorten the recipe title or write a brief description that hooks readers. You can leave some fields blank if not needed.

Click on the Save Changes button to save the Credit text that you have added.

Designing the Post #

After setting the content, switch to the Design tab to customize the image layout and style. Here’s what you can do:

  • Choose a Layout Template: The Design tab shows several template options. Each layout arranges the image and text differently (for example, text overlaid on full-image background, image and text side-by-side, text box with a background, etc.). Select one that fits your recipe.
  • Preview by Platform: There are platform previews (often as tabs or buttons) for Facebook,
    Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, and LinkedIn
. Click a platform icon to see how the current design will look in that format. The addon automatically applies recommended aspect ratios (e.g. square for Instagram, landscape for Facebook/Twitter). Make sure titles and subtitles fit well in each preview.
  • Switch Orientation: If available, toggle between Landscape and Portrait orientation. Use
landscape for Facebook/Twitter (wide images) and portrait for Instagram Stories or Pinterest (tall images). The preview will update accordingly.

Social Media Posts Editor #

You can customize the typography and color settings for each social media post from this section. Use the options below and follow the instructions to adjust the appearance as needed:

  • Portrait/Landscape: Toggle this switch to choose between portrait or landscape mode for your post layout.
  • Title Style: Select the desired font family and font size for the post title.
  • Content Style: Choose the font family and font size for the post content.
  • Text Color: Pick a text color for your social media posts.
  • Brand Color: Select a brand color to maintain consistency across posts.
  • Background Color: Choose a background color for your posts.

You can click on the Save Changes button to save all the customizer settings.

Platform Guidelines: Remember that different networks favor different image shapes:

Facebook/Twitter: Landscape images (approximately 1200×628 px) work well.
Instagram Story/Pinterest: Portrait (vertical) images (e.g. 1080px by 1350px or taller) can stand out.
LinkedIn: Horizontal (1200×627 px) usually looks best.

The preview icons help ensure your image is sized correctly. If the text looks cut off in a preview, try increasing the font size or changing the layout/orientation.

AI-Generated Caption #

This addon can also generate a social media caption (text post) using AI. Here’s how:

  • Click the Generate Caption button. The addon will use the recipe details you’ve entered to create an engaging caption (usually one or two sentences).
  • Wait a few seconds while the AI processes the information. The generated caption will appear in a text box.
  • Review the caption. You can make edits to adjust the tone or length if needed.
Click the Copy button to copy the caption to your clipboard. You can then use it as your social media post caption.

Exporting the Post #

Once you’re happy with the design and caption, it’s time to export the image:

In the editor (usually at the top or bottom of the page), click the Download Image button.
This will generate the final image (often as a JPG file). Your browser will prompt you to save or automatically download the image. Choose a location on your computer and save the file.
Now you have a ready-to-share social media image. You can upload it to Facebook, Instagram, etc., using your normal posting process. When posting, paste the caption you copied into the post text field.
